The Lindy League of Western Mass

The Lindy League hosts a dance on the 4th Saturday of every month at the First Churches of Northampton in downtown Northampton, Mass.

The evening starts at 7:30pm with a introductory swing lesson taught by members of the Lindy League. Then DJs Camille 'C-Jam' Fontanella, Mark 'Raggmopp' Page, and Tricia Lea will spin the best swinging jazz tunes in the Valley from 8:00 to 11:00pm.

All ages and all skill levels are welcome. No partner is necessary.

Shoes: Please bring clean shoes with non-marking soles if you don't have shoes made specifically for dancing.

Cover Charge:$8 for the dance ($5 for students and seniors). Lesson is included in the price of admission.

The Lindy League has teamed up with the Wednesday night dance at the Northampton Center for the Arts to offer a beginner- and intermediate-level progressive lindy hop series. Beginner classes are from 6:30-7:30pm and Intermediate clases are from 7:30-8:30pm, Wednesdays. Mark, Christine, and Tricia will be taking turns teaching the classes.

The LL likes to mix it up from month to month, so that the intermediate class will cover many topics, such as Charleston and Solo Jazz, in addition to Lindy Hop. Occasionally, a Balboa series will be offered instead of the Intermediate Lindy Hop class.

The intermediate series is not for beginners. Please check with your instructor to see if you are ready to move to the intermediate level.

The Wednesday night classes will be followed by a mixed genre dance at the Center for the Arts from 8:30-11:00pm.

Cost: $5 for each lesson, $10 for the lesson and the dance. If you want to take another one of the classes offered, you can get two classes and the dance for $15.
